StoreProfit vs TrueProfit: the profit report vs the reorder decision
Last verified August 9, 2026
Overview
StoreProfit answers the question a profit dashboard leaves open: what to reorder, when, and whether the cash will be there when the invoice lands. It covers the same net profit, product margins, lifetime value and ad spend that TrueProfit does, then carries those numbers into inventory forecasting, purchase orders and a cash projection - in one subscription, on flat pricing that does not add a charge per order as you grow. TrueProfit is the longer-established dashboard and reaches more ad platforms and multiple stores; StoreProfit covers more of what a single stock-holding store actually has to decide.

What StoreProfit adds
The difference is scope, not accuracy. A profit dashboard tells you what happened; if you hold inventory, the decision waiting on that number is almost always a purchase order - how much to buy, when to place it, and whether the cash will still be there when the invoice lands. StoreProfit runs the profit maths and then keeps going: sales velocity per SKU, a reorder-by date, a suggested quantity, and a cash projection that includes the deposit and balance payments on the orders you have committed to. Landed costs are kept per receipt, so when a supplier raises prices your historical margins stay correct instead of being quietly restated. That is the whole reason StoreProfit exists, and it is the part TrueProfit does not attempt.
- Cash flow forecasting at SKU level, including committed restock payments, so you see a shortfall weeks before it happens.
- Inventory forecasting and purchase orders in the same app as the profit numbers, rather than as a separate subscription.
- Landed cost per batch: each receipt keeps the price actually paid, so historical margins stay accurate after a supplier price change.
- Ad spend from Meta, Google and TikTok attributed down to individual products.
What TrueProfit leaves to another tool
- No cash flow forecasting: it reports the profit you made, not the cash you will have.
- No inventory forecasting or purchase orders, so restock decisions happen in another tool.
- Cost is tied to order volume. Above your plan's allowance there is an overage of $0.30 to $0.07 per extra order depending on tier.
- Product Analytics is not on the entry plan, and Marketing Attribution is Enterprise-only at $200/mo.
- No permanently free tier - a 14-day trial, then a paid plan.
What TrueProfit focuses on
TrueProfit concentrates on one job - reporting profit - and its ad platform coverage is the widest here, reaching Bing, Snapchat and Amazon alongside Meta, Google and TikTok. If you buy media across all of those, that breadth is real. What it reports, though, stops at what already happened. StoreProfit covers the same profit ground for the platforms most Shopify stores actually use, and then keeps going into the decisions that profit number exists to inform: when each SKU runs out, what to reorder, and whether the cash will be there when the invoice lands.
- The widest ad platform coverage of any app here - Facebook, Google, TikTok, Bing, Snapchat and Amazon.
Pricing compared
Both start in the same place and diverge sharply. TrueProfit's plans are sized by monthly orders with an overage charge above each allowance, so the bill follows your growth: at 300 orders the two are within a few dollars, at 1,000 orders TrueProfit is roughly $80 against $59, and at 10,000 orders the published rates put it near $655 against a flat $199. StoreProfit's top plan has no order limit, which is the entire difference in shape. Below about 300 orders a month the gap is small enough to ignore and you should pick on features instead. All figures are list prices published on 9 August 2026 - check both before deciding.
| Volume | StoreProfit | TrueProfit |
|---|---|---|
| 300 orders/mo | $29/mo (Starter) | $35/mo (Basic) |
| 1,000 orders/mo | $59/mo (Growth) | about $80/mo (Advanced + 400 overage) |
| 3,000 orders/mo | $99/mo (Scale) | $200/mo (Enterprise) |
| 10,000 orders/mo | $199/mo (Plus, unlimited orders) | about $655/mo (Enterprise + 6,500 overage) |
Why stores pick StoreProfit
- Accurate financial reporting: true net profit per order and per product, with COGS, fees, shipping and ad spend all accounted for.
- You hold inventory, and the question behind the profit number is really what to reorder and whether the cash will be there.
- Your order volume is growing and you would rather not pay per order once you pass a plan allowance.
- You want to start free rather than on a trial clock.
What TrueProfit is built around
- Reporting profit is the whole of the job you want done.
- You buy media on Bing, Snapchat or Amazon as well as Meta, Google and TikTok.
Getting set up takes minutes
Setup is a few minutes, not a project. StoreProfit reads the cost per item you already keep in Shopify and imports it in one click, so your margins are right across your whole order history straight away - and if you would rather use your own landed costs, a CSV upload does the lot in one go. Orders, products and payouts come directly from Shopify, so the analysis covers what you have already sold rather than starting from today. The free plan goes up to 50 orders a month, so you can see your real numbers before you commit to anything. Ad accounts reconnect in a couple of clicks, and from there the profit figures keep themselves current.
Questions people ask
Is StoreProfit a drop-in replacement for TrueProfit?
Yes for everything most Shopify stores use it for: net profit per order, product-level margins, lifetime value and ad spend from Meta, Google and TikTok. On top of that you get inventory forecasting, purchase orders and a cash projection, which TrueProfit does not offer at any tier - so most merchants end up with more, in one subscription, not less.
Which one is cheaper?
At around 300 orders a month they are close, $35 against $29. Above that TrueProfit's plans are sized by order volume with per-order overages, so the gap widens as you grow: roughly $80 against $59 at 1,000 orders, and at 10,000 orders published rates put TrueProfit near $655 against a flat $199. Both list prices were checked on 9 August 2026.
Does TrueProfit do inventory forecasting or cash flow?
No. Neither appears in their pricing page or App Store listing, which enumerate the rest of the feature set in detail. It is a profit and lifetime-value tool by design, not an omission.
Can I run both at the same time?
Yes, and during a trial it is a sensible thing to do. Both read the same Shopify data, so the net profit figures should agree closely. Where they differ it is usually down to how each treats collected tax or refunds, which is worth understanding before you commit either way.
Do my historical numbers move across?
No tool in this category imports another's history, but you do not lose it either. Orders, products and payouts come from Shopify, so once your product costs are entered the whole history recalculates. Only the cost setup itself has to be re-entered.
